This last Christmas/New Years ‘08/’09 brought about a big announcement. There will be a new addition to our family, a mini-me! (Well mini-me and Jocey I suppose). With this wonderful news is going to be some big changes, which I got a head start on. This is somewhat out of character being that I am a huge procrastinator b it was actually something that needed to be done a long time ago. The room that will soon become sleeping quarters for the new roommate/baby needed to be cleaned out as all my “contract manufacturing” inventory/tools were being stored in this room. This consists of different molds, rubber/foam, electrical test equipment and tools, and finally shipping supples and inventory. While moving all these wonderful items, I was also inspired to install new dim-able can lights for the babies new “crib”. You can see pictures of the tools/parts below.

For my new workshop I relocated to the unfinished portion of our basement which needed some serious organization and a good work surface to be usable. After several hours of digging through unused hand-me-down Christmas decorations and unpacked toys of days gone by, I finally uncovered a reasonably large size work area. I was then able to modify a homebuilt storage unit to work as a tool bench/work surface by adjusting the height, adding lights, and other miscellaneous odds-an-ends. I have proudly displayed pictures of the set up below. It is divided up in to four sections for organization: above is storage for bank boxes filled with old parts and tools not being used currently. The work surface is divided in to two sections: harness building area and mold pouring area (covered in plexi-glass for easy cleaning). The final section holds a bookshelf and paperwork to allow easy access of manufactured inventory and shipping supplies.
